Paul Smith

Gather was selected as one of five British glassmakers to take part in British Makers – Glass, the inaugural design grant from Paul Smith Foundation, launched during London Craft Week.

The initiative invited makers to develop a new product in response to a creative brief from Sir Paul Smith and the Paul Smith Home & Interiors team. For the project, Gather was tasked with reimagining the water jug, taking inspiration from Paul Smith's River Collage garment and translating its colours, pattern, and sense of movement into handblown glass.

From Garment to Glass

Working from our glassblowing studio in Woolwich, South East London, Gather developed a new handblown jug through a process of sampling, colour development, and prototyping.

Inspired by the layered colours and graphic composition of the River Collage print, the final design explored how pattern could be interpreted through traditional glassblowing techniques, creating a contemporary object that felt connected to both brands while remaining rooted in the craft of handmade glass.

London Craft Week

The finished jug was exhibited at Paul Smith's Mayfair flagship as part of British Glass, an exhibition showcasing the journey from brief through to finished object. Alongside the completed pieces, visitors were able to explore sketchbooks, development work, and insights into each maker's process.

The resulting Gather jug is now available through Paul Smith as part of the British Makers collection.

Work With Us

Alongside our own collections, Gather works with brands, retailers, designers, and cultural organisations to develop new products, bespoke collections, and contemporary handblown glass commissions.

Whether responding to an existing design language, adapting a product for a new audience, or developing an entirely new concept, we work closely with collaborators from initial brief through to production.
