Phoebe Stubbs x Emma Louise Payne: MOULD
Recently, Gather founder Phoebe Stubbs collaborated with ceramic artist Emma Louise Payne on MOULD, an exhibition exploring mould-making as a shared process between glass and ceramics.
The project explores how moulds shape not only form, but also surface, structure, and material character. Working between ceramics and glass, the collaboration develops a process-led approach where each material informs the next.
A plywood press mould is used to form grogged stoneware, holding onto the marks of making. This ceramic form is then used as the mould for molten glass, which is blown into its cavity - capturing texture while softening and transforming the original form through heat and movement.
Presented at Aram Gallery, MOULD brought together a series of table lamps and a suspended ceiling light, shown from 6 March to 18 April 2026.
The works reflect this exchange between materials, with traces of clay carried into the glass itself.
