Glassblowing Classes & Experiences in London
Gather runs glassblowing classes and experiences from its working furnace studio in Woolwich, South East London.
Known as the Hot Shop, the studio operates Monday to Thursday and is led by a team of trained glassmakers under founder Phoebe Stubbs, who has over twenty years of furnace glassblowing experience.
All sessions take place in a fully operational glassblowing studio, not a demonstration space. Participants work directly with molten glass at the bench, using traditional tools, heat, and hands-on instruction throughout. Class sizes are kept small to allow for close guidance and a direct experience of the making process.
Experiences are available at all levels:
- A one-hour bauble blowing experience (£65) is designed for complete beginners.
- A “blow your own drinking glass” session for two people (£195) offers an introduction to shaping molten glass.
- Half-day introductory classes (£260) and full-day sessions (£420) allow for a deeper exploration of glassblowing techniques and process.
Private glassblowing experiences start from £950 for three hours and are tailored for individuals, couples, or small groups - often booked for celebrations, milestone events, or focused introductions to the craft.
Corporate workshop days are also available for teams at £3,200 for a full day.
All tools and safety equipment are provided. Finished pieces are cooled overnight in the annealer and can be collected the following day or shipped.
